About this leqture:

Reproduction is fundamental to life on earth, and there is a huge diversity of how animals reproduce themselves. Have you ever wondered why humans have males and females, and why we have sex to reproduce, instead of cloning ourselves? Together with Judith, you will tour the diversity of reproduction across animals, from clonal snails to sex-changing fish to turtles that determine sex by temperature. We will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of sex, along with the evolutionary and conservation consequences of different reproductive strategies. This session is designed for those interested in learning more about gender differences and biodiversity.
